Dear all,
It is official: the Red Bull Sea to Sky is happening!! The date has slightly changed, please note that the event is scheduled for 07 - 09.10.2011. Do not miss this highlight of fall 2011: Where else could you race at the beach, in the forest and on a rocky mountain – all within one weekend? Spice this with the flair of a tourist resort, the use of a cable car for transportation and a holiday and entertainment package for your team and family – all at an unbeatable price! And we guarantee, the same professional execution and safety, as you know it from the Red Bull Romaniacs.
We would like to provide you with additional information today and invite you to register for the participation: http://www.redbullromaniacs.com/red-bull-sea-to-sky/registration-form/
We will frequently come up with more news also via Facebook. Be "friend" with us at: http://www.facebook.com/RedBullSeatoSky
Red Bull Sea to Sky:
The race is composed of three parts: beach, forest and mountain and spans an altitude-delta of over 2300 meters. The “Beach Race” on Saturday, October 8th kicks off the morning with a mass start and leads along the coastline in front of the Hotels of Kemer village. The result of the "beach race" decides the starting order for the next race, the "Forest time trial", also on Saturday. This stage leads riders through “breathtaking” single-trails, spectacular mountain roads and of course forest into the mountains around Kemer. The result of the “Forest time trial” determines the starting row of the “Olympos mountain race” on Sunday.
This race will lead away from the beach all the way up to mountain Olympos (Tahtali 2.365 m). The track starts in a wide, dry riverbed for 8 km followed by an approximately 40 km forest section of single trails, wood working trails and goat trails. The terrain will continuously get more difficult with increasing altitude. As the track passes the tree line at an elevation of approximately 1900 meters, the bike tires will have contact to rock surfaces only. The finish at the peak is accessible for fans and spectators by cable car, which is also the transportation of choice, back down for the finishers.
On site registration starts Friday midday. More info and regulations:

Award ceremony and (soon to be legendary) beach party:
We expect only 30% or less of the competitors to make it to the top of the mountain. Those who will arrive within the maximum 8 hours riding time will be awarded with a Red Bull Sea to Sky Gold medal. Those competitors that are able to make it all the way up to the tree line at an elevation of about 1.700 m will be awarded with a Silver medal, and those competitors that make it through the river section and the first sections of the forest will receive a Bronze medal at the Sunday evening riders beach party. Those who don’t get any medal, should not attend the party but start training right away for next years` Red Bull Sea to Sky
!
After race riding:
As the trip to Turkey is a long one, all riders get the chance to extend their stay and join us for up to three days of guided Enduro tours with our Turkish friends and us!
Alternatively, if desired, we will provide GPS tracks for individual rides. These free of charge trips lead the riders even further into the mountains: to get a taste of the untouched nature as well as the Turkish culture and hospitality.
Non-Enduro riding friends & family or mechanics are invited to Jeep rides to the lunch spots of the competitors, using scenic mountain roads.
The location:
Kemer is located in South Turkey at the Mediterranean Sea 50 km north west of Antalya. Kemer is a well-known tourist destination with over 500.000 hotel beds.
The area around Kemer has a strong historic background going far before Christ.
Besides relaxing on beach or hotel pools there are plenty sightseeing possibilities but the area offers also all kind of water and mountain sport activities.
History & Future:
The first Sea to Sky event was held in 2010, organized by the local Kemer Enduro club. The Kemer Enduro Club has many years of experience in organizing national Turkey Enduro competitions. Now energized by Red Bull & Xventure, this event is going to reach the next level! The race is likely to become part of the World Extreme Enduro Championship (WXEC) in the near future.
Several visits by riders and organizers have already confirmed the potential of the location: Red Bull Romaniacs founder and organizer Martin “Frejn” Freinademetz: "The mountains around Kemer are very promising, the local Enduro club is extremely motivated, the authorities are supporting Enduro like other cities support football and with a long term partner like Red Bull we expect a great future for this race."
The travel:
Antalya has a busy airport with many direct connection flights within Europe and several charter flight connections. There are several connecting flights per day via Istanbul and Ankara. If you travel by plane you may either rent a bike in Turkey or sent your bike by forwarder or with privately organized bike transport.
We are working on a bike transport from Spain to Turkey and another one from north Germany to Turkey. You may also drive by yourself. Expect a travel of 1 1/2 days from central Europe to Kemer.
Best regards,
Cristina Badiu
